to Proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord

We are true to our heritage...we are a mission driven parish.

We are both an established parish and a new and growing parish.

We are present to the broader Sunnyslope community through outreach and service activity.

We are a courageous and hopeful community...willing to face challenges and to grow in the process.

We desire to be a welcoming community...inviting new and diverse members with open arms.

Who We Want To Be

A people more deeply rooted in our faith tradition.

A community that is continually growing spiritually.

A community that keeps culture alive by working with our traditions.

A community that develops lay leaders and increases lay participation in all ministries.

A community that fosters collaboration and unity among leadership groups and ministries.

A community that understands and lives a life of stewardship and service.

HISTORY OF MOST HOLY TRINITY CHURCH

In the spring of 1942, twenty-three people gathered in a vacant store at 7th and Dunlap Street to celebrate the Eucharist. The storeowner, however, sold the building forcing those faithful Catholics to use a private home for Sunday Mass. As their number increased, three acres of land on 7th Street were acquired for the construction of a small chapel, called "Mission of Our Lady of the Wayside" (the current St. Thomas Aquinas Hall on the north side of McHugh Hall).

On November 1, 1951, the Bishop of Tucson established Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church under the loving care of Monsignor Neil McHugh. The parish quickly grew to include a school and a temporary convent in 1953. Construction of the present church building was completed in late 1957, followed by the Rectory (the current parish office building) in 1962. In 1967, a convent (the current rectory) was completed.

The Order of Preachers, commonly known as the Dominicans, were invited to staff the parish in 1988. Most Holy Trinity grew to embrace an active parish community and a school providing a Catholic Education to children from Preschool through 8th grade. On July 1, 2003, the Disciples of Hope were asked to assume leadership of the parish. And so, we begin a new and exciting chapter of our history.
